Hi. Is there going to Brant infrastructure there for those of us that can’t drive? How easy is it to get there from man train stations or bus stations etc?
I reckon you are spot on about the brand new infrastructure as Universal are basically overhauling the whole local travel network to make sure people can get there without a car.
The main thing to look out for is the new station at Wixams which has been totally redesigned. Instead of the tiny local stop they first planned they are now building a massive four platform station just to cope with the millions of people coming up from London.
East West Rail have also confirmed a new station at Stewartby right on the doorstep of the resort which is great news for anyone coming from Oxford or Milton Keynes. Plus there will be a huge bus and coach hub on the site itself so non drivers are going to be well sorted. Universal are actually aiming for nearly half the guests to arrive by train or bus so they have to get it right.
Another big one is the “hub and spoke” model for buses. If you go to Orlando now every single hotel has a constant stream of shuttle buses that drop you at a central rotunda near the park entrance. The plans for the Bedford “Core Zone” include a huge dedicated transport hub that does the exact same thing. It acts like a giant funnel to get thousands of people from the trains and local coaches into the park as quickly as possible.
