The latest midweek update from Project Universal is here, and things are starting to get very interesting on-site in Bedford. While the weather was “threatening” for the pilot, the drone captured some significant movement in the central Core Zone.
Key Highlights from the Update:
New Perimeter Fencing: High-security fencing has now been installed all the way down the railway line, marking out the official boundaries of the construction compound.
Archaeological “Orange Jackets”: The site is currently swarming with archaeological teams who are GPS-recording specific areas in the mud. This is a standard but vital step before the heavy “Digatron” machinery can begin the full-scale earthworks.
Historical Footings? The footage shows a large trench where teams appear to have identified “dark lines” or shadows in the clay. The pilot mentions a potential historical site known as hospitalitas precipy (likely a medieval preceptory or hospital) that was once located near the ancient Mana Road.
Logistics Arrival: In a classic sign that long-term work is beginning, the first mobile site facilities (portaloos) have officially arrived in the middle of the field.
What do you think?
The discovery of medieval footings could be a fascinating look into the history of the Bedford site before Universal transforms it into a world-class resort. If they find anything major, it could mean a slower start to the heavy construction while the history is preserved and logged.
